Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial - 1 month review

I think that's the point of them, isn't it? Nothing flashy, just works hard and keeps going for years and years. I don't think it's really meant to appeal to the lease and replace every couple of years crowd, who want the latest in gadgets.

Exactly, a car needs a certain level of gadgetry, beyond which it is just junk which won't work out of warranty. Do you really want a mechanically actuated gear stick that can pull itself into park if you push a button? Or a gearknob that rises up through the centre console every time you start the engine?

I don’t think you can order a new one now - the order book closed in late 2022
You can only buy what’s ‘unsold’ in the Dealer network
Didn't know that. The problem is, most of those will be pre registered so can't get the 100% capital allowance written down.

I want to purchase the Escape Gear seat covers as you have done and would be interested to know where you purchased them from and whether they are the Polycotton or Cotton type?

I think mine are the regular Cotton Canvas type, been plenty hard wearing enough and are nice and soft now. A colleague bought the charcoal coloured tough Polycotton type for his LC and they were really nice too.

Why not?
I only thought that was the Ltd Co, super allowance of 130% that it had to be New ?
That’s finished now and ended in 2023 FYE
Surely you can usually get 100% allowances on new and used (within your or the AIA limits) plant & equipment for Sole Traders, partnerships and Ltd Co/LLP’s ?

We’ve just traded one in with 1200 miles on the clock. 72 plate - nice enough thing but really miss the practicality of a pickup. Having driven modern 4x4s you can tell it hasn’t been developed for decades but it is still very comfortable.

Things we didn’t like were the constant binging noises - makes a noise with the door open even if the engine is off.

Back door has to be really slammed to shut.

No space between the bulkhead and front seats to quickly chuck something out of the way when picking someone up.

D-max. Not arrived yet but much more spec on it. Not quite as comfortable and engine a bit flatter thank the Toyota but coming with the ‘optional’ remap to take it to 200hp. The fact that the 18 year Old Ford ranger is still preferred over the Land Cruiser for farm work days it all….

Quite a few 200 Series used locally as work vehicles, go everywhere and do everything.
Y62 Patrol runs the Titans 5.6, sounds great but drinks like a fish especially towing.
Then there's the Ram and the Chevrolet but they just seem as expensive pavement princesses.
As for the Ford Ranger, it will be interesting to see if the flaws of old come out with the 3.0 V6 and 10 speed auto.

Ute conversion and chassis extension, problem solved!!!

Electric handbrake and idle stop/start, quite honestly 2 of the dumbest features ever!!!

100% allowance on new, 6% on used. Pre registered even with only 5 miles on the clock is technically used.

Used van qualifies for 100% under Annual Investment Allowance doesn’t it?
Yes, it’s a commercial & therefore plant & equipment
Up to your AIA limits each year
Dunno Where the 6 or 18% comes from Mounty??
Maybe he’s confusing it with car capital allowance???
Tractors/machinery/lorries/vans and pickups are all commercial status

This was what my accountant said
I’m afraid asset purchases must be new and unused to qualify for the new 100% tax relief. For second-hand assets, you only get tax relief on 18% of the cost in the year of purchase.

18% is what you claim each year if claiming on reducing balance, it’s how I claim all tax relief to help even out the peaks and troughs on good years and bad years and high spends and low spends, the tax relief is spread over several years, 18% of the reducing balance being claimed each year until you reach the full 100%.
It’s optional wether you claim this way or take all the tax relief in one year
