Don’t take anything I say as gospel on tax matters but as far as im aware you can claim 100% first year tax relief or reducing balance on both new and second hand
That’s as I understood it too
The 130% super capital allowance was only for Ltd Companies and on new goods (however it’s ended now in 2023) - not applicable for Sole Traders & Partnership businesses though

BenB ........how's the Landcruiser behaving?

130,000 miles and all is good!

I'll have had it 5 years next March, genuinely its been fantastic. I'm not planning to change it, but I have been thinking about what I would swap it for, and haven't really come up with an answer. The one downside is the fuel economy, 30-31mpg on my annual mileage and current fuel price is fairly painful.

I’ve just hit 21,000 with mine so a long way to go, hopefully!

That’s pretty good fuel economy for the type and size of vehicle. On what I would assume to be similar journeys I get 34mpg from my 2023 Ford Ranger Bi-Turbo which has very similar power and torque to the Toyota 2.8.

Thanks for thst
Seems good news
BTW my old 3litre Hilux auto has averaged 31mpg on similar light work with maybe more motorways with cruise set to average 65 mph on the GPS
I have an opportunity to obtain a LC LWB Commercial in future month’s potentially, so interested in your reviews

If buying an older Land Cruiser 90, 120 or early 150 [previously called ‘Colorado’ in the UK and Prado elsewhere], be very careful about chassis and rear axle rust. I was talking to a friend yesterday who has just had a new Defender90 commercial, and he was mentioning that his 2004 LC will not pass its next MOT, due soon, having had a replacement rear axle a few years ago due to rust, and extensive chassis patching over the last two years. It is now past saving. Engine and transmission still good at 180,000 miles.

Recently did a brim to brim on my 2.8 manual keeping to the speed limit (60) and heavy traffic town driving and came up with 40.6.
My Ranger automatic does about the same. Over 40 to the gallon at times but the hills around here soon bring it back to average 34 but long term with a bit of towing included, it occasionally comes back to 30mpg on a tankful. I’ve done 800 miles at an average of just under 34 before now and that has been checked at the fuel station as being accurate. The old 2.2 auto does at least 5mpg worse in all conditions.

That is nearly 20 years old what doesn't need looking at carefully
