Many thanks for the offer of the tractor above Laminated , just out of my price range

If anyone in the huntingdon/cambridge area has something old and cheap that needs a home, I am happy to do some work if needed on the tractor, just have such a small budget and trying to start up.

I have seen a few on ebay but a bit nervous of bidding (Dont know what I will get)

A tractor? As in 1 tractor? On 20 acres? Is that even possible?
3 here on 24 acres, 2 David Brown 996 and a Case 844XL. Farming 6 of those acres, the other 18 are rented out.
A lack of shed space is preventing the purchase of a 4th tractor at the moment
We're farming about 250 acres, and just considering getting a tractor now!! 🤪

Looks good and my kind of price, problem is I really need a loader 😢 are they easy to retro fit etc
I have a bigger Deutz with a loader it is a 7807 and I was lucky to buy it with the proper loader brackets and a Stoll loader with all the useful attachments like pallet forks, a bucket and a muck fork.
The 6206 would be a pretty easy little machine to fit a single acting loader to as the hydraulics are powerful. They come up on ebay often for scrap money.

What will you be using the loader for ,
I managed without a loader for 15 /20 years just used a 590 with a new Fraser bale spike on back , 2 single acting spool valves and could cart bales with it tow trailer with it on

Just to move hay and timber etc around. I am just trying to work out your terminology 😂😂. I assume the bale spike can be connected to the back easily ? Trailer is a must.

We are planting veg on 3 acres, 19 acres will probably be grazing management.

then just general track maintenance around 200 metres.

Any advice on implements would be much appreciated

I’d say you might be better off with a telescopic handler have to be an oldish one . I’ve a small holding these days and I’ll use my JCB loadall virtually every day . Just get a contractor in to do the field work. By the time you buy a tractor grass cutter haybob baler etc for a few hours work a year it’s not worth it . An older tractor with a loader on it is a very poor 2nd choice for moving stuff around. I persuaded a friend to buy an older manitou from me a few years back now he uses it every day on his small place . Yes you can’t take them in a field at this time of year but but why would you need to . I use a quad and trailer to feed sheep.

Get yourself to Cheffins, take someone with you who knows what they are looking at mechanically, 100's of tractors from £800 parts breakers to £150k monsters with everything in between, you'll pick up something in your budget to do what you need.
