Traffiking in Agriculture

Saw this on Facebook, the beacon of facts and truth.

It’s sad to see the finger pointed at farming. I don’t know a farmer who who knowingly do this.

So high-risk is utter rubbish.

And a medium increasingly, quite sadly in my opinion, being used by senior politicians to 'the get their message across, unadulterated' while denying MSM access (note the current Conservative Government refusing to put senior spokespeople onto BBC news and current affairs programmes, thus giving credence to all the utter lies that are on it as well.

So is social media a good or bad thing. Written by me on a social media site. mmm.

Can't blame anyone for not going on the BBC - they are as bad as Facebook, but have more credibility for most, so more dangerous imo.

Why would anyone be trafficked from Lithuania? they have had free access for 20 odd years so no need. I very much suspect fake news I am afraid

Trafficking in this instance doesn't refer to illegal movement across borders, but workers moved to a location and forced to work under illegal conditions or doing illegal activities. Eg British girls trafficked to different towns and forced to become prostitutes.

Just because your not previously aware of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The labour spikes required for large scale indoor poultry production means many farmers employ labour agencies to source additional labour when required. These can attract some unsavoury characters.

I've no doubt similar unsavoury characters supply labour for other industries.

OP is fake news surely?

What work is there to do at night on an egg laying unit?

Plenty of "reputable" businesses in the UK record the time computer operators spend away from their workstation and deduct from wages if they consider it excessive!

Farmers are no saints either-just look at the thread about a worker being given a Warning just because he's always on his phone and let's his mate drive the tractor! What a b*stard, eh!

I volunteered for Stop the Traffik whilst I was at university, it is a great organisation that works on the frontline with individuals who are victims of modern slavery. There are a plethora of examples of where individuals have been in bonded servitude in agriculture.

18% of all victims of forced labour in the UK come from Agriculture but we only make up 3% of overall UK employment. It is a massive issue and should be taken seriously.

There is more info in this government briefing
