Trailer brake conversion.

If converting a trailer on air brakes to hydraulic is there a ram available that will bolt onto where the air brake chambers come out.

Obviously I could get the combined air/hydraulic setup but not looking for this. Asking here as no one I know of supply these down here

I hear that but that’s not what I asked for. Just seen a video done by I think tractair doing a conversion and the hydraulic rams removed were on a standard air chamber bracket.

Air brakes on a tractor are rare here. Hydraulic trailer brakes almost as rare. For the occasional use this customer needs hydraulic will be fine. It’s not a legal requirement here.

I remember the good old days, back in the late 80s when I was carting on the road (aged 16) with a MF135 complete with one working drum brake I had an 8 tonne marston trailer behind me which had its brakes plumbed into a spool valve. If you had to resort to using the trailer brakes, they were of course either off or on, so most of the you just made use of the 1 working drum brake on the whole outfit :)

look, tell him you have this really good offer of a compressor fitting the tractor, ideal for running various air operated tools and will blow up tyres too.
get that job done first, then later on ask if he still wants the trailer converted

Can’t help you over there in the great southern land, but if you were still here I’d say pop into Hunton Legg and have a look see. I’m sure they would come up with something suitable like what @ste has suggested.

I might contact them and seee what they have. It will come down to price as I’ve found the air/hydraulic units for £79 so will need to be less than that.
