The ifor website still has a 2009 flowchart on it that refers to the old rules 750kg unbraked, the DVSA website guidance and phoneline gave a different description.

I paid the other two, it's just the points I want to avoid if I can, I think I may have a couple of speeding tickets coming, could put me on a sticky wicket, that'll teach me!

As I understand it, the complaint is that you were driving a vehicle , capable of towing 3,500kg
So you should not be driving any vehicle capable of towing more than 750kg
That is rubbish

Armitages have a website where the rules are clear.
Any trailer built after 2012 must have a plate.
All drivers taking their test after 1996 will only have a B and can only tow a trailer up to the weight of the towing vehicle, and the gross must not exceed 3,500

Presumably your trailer was old so does not require a plate.

I do think when you go to court and win your case , you should put in for expenses for all of us

My boss got stopped by the visa Manny a few months ago , rear light out and tyres near legal limit so he got a prohibition order , he took it to local mcconnechys for four new tyres , the visa Manny came back to retest but he didn't lift the order because the tyre rating was wrong for trailer so either Ivor williams would have to replate the trailer or stump up for four more tyres
