For the numbers that I plant now, (400 at a time) I just use my air spade to floculate the ground then a 4'' planting spade to make the slot. Perfect in Suffolk soil
Great take with very little beating up.

plant by hand here as the flat ground is for food.spade,bag and sandwiches off ya go.

I do 2-300 per day depending.in a field i would expect 500 per man per day.

when i do plant i also do stake and tubex so 300 of each is 900 items a day .thats a good day.
i usually get over 220 tubed and staked per day.

668 in an hour our best on hedging. Canes & guards take longer to put on than the planting.

depends on species as to spacing.its also very easy to plant hedgerow species over staked and tubed trees.

planted a mixed woodland with cherry as dominant species .planted around 3m apart in any direction.but not in rows as it was mixed woodland.

made areas of cherry and planted box around the perimeter with holly mixed in as hedgerow around the woodland.
