I've been filling in pot holes on my road today. I was thinking I need to do something about the grass growing up the middle. Then when I looked closer, I could see it is a carpet of birch seedlings! Should I carefully dig them up and replant, or just leave them and hope I get afforested in?
There's a tree (bush?) growing out of the top of an old stone- built factory chimney locally . Not sure what kind , but it's been there a time , and seems to be thriving . there are also quite a number of young conifers growing on the moor above us , not actually planted as such , I'm told , but came as seed in bales of heather spread out up there for regeneration purposes . I bet if you tried to replicate either of these self grown plants , you'd have a bit of difficulty trying to do it the same way .
Had a small Holly growing on an outstretched limb of an Ash for years. There were ferns growing around the Holly, too. The Ash has died of old age, and the limb has fallen, sadly.
