I have RTX Rangepoint on an Intellivew 4 screen in my combine. Does it need the update? It's Trimble equipment & an AG 372 receiver
Yes the new frequency is encrypted, but as long as the receiver is on the required firmware it will converge just fine.Isn't it more than just a simple frequency change - that is the signal is now also encrypted?
Makes sense then that later firmware is needed. Otherwise you’d just be able to change the frequency without bothering about a firmware update.Yes the new frequency is encrypted, but as long as the receiver is on the required firmware it will converge just fine.

Goodness knows, but it’s likely been in their service strategy or “roadmap” for a while. They wouldn’t have decided to encrypt the signal overnight, that would have taken some thought and planning. They’d understand better than anyone the potential for disruption and pissing off their customers, so there must be solid commercial or technical reasons for it.Trimble must have known this change was coming for a while because there hasn't been a new version of firmware for the FMX for well over a year, and it picks up the new frequency just fine.
Shirley you would have had some form of communication from your dealer that a firmware update was possibly required? So we’re saying, most likely, that the cnh stuff, pro 700 ag372 etc will need an update before the frequency change will work??? I love a good update, it never goes wrong
So for the cnh stuff I’d say an update is needed, you can change the frequency in the RDI screen but the correct option isn’t available in the GPS setup page, so I’m guessing it can’t look for it, and that option would be in the update??

I’d guess the new frequency option needs to be available in the screen above, and after the update it would be??
Excellent, thanks, I’ll look tomorrow. Before you get into that screen there should be an xfill setup option, change that from auto to custom then when you go into the frequency page it will let you type the new frequency, that's worked on our rtx and rtk xfill.

Save the configurations, all of them one at a time, onto USB.That explains why I couldn’t get more than 2 bars with the new frequency yesterday
Loading the new firmware is the easy bit.
Can someone remind me how you save and re-install the EZSteer and device settings before the firmware upgrade deletes them?
It’s a pain in the hoop having to re-calibrate the steering if I forget. (FM-750).

Found it, options of preset, custom and auto, you’re correct that in custom you can change it, which I did, but I’m not sure it’s worked, I’ve a xfill status box in one run screen and it’s still blank, but for the life of me I can’t remember what it used to say if anything. On both of ours the setup option was the box to the left of the frequency one.
