ts 83 plough

I have just got a ts 83 ransomes plough 2 furrow cant get the turnover to work it sometimes
works on right turn but usually sits level not completing turn. it has the older mechanism of rod and
bracket type of thing that turns when working. all seems to be operating looking at the pictures in the
operators book. tried allsorts to fix but no joy also have book for ts82 which seems same turnover type
it says set up turnover left hand boards on ground is this looking from rear or front? from front this is set up with right boards on ground is this the problem the mechanism is in effect a half turn out only thing I can think of
I don't have a clue how this thing should work as not mechanically minded

Has the plough got discs in? We used to have to adjust the lenght of the small turnbuckle in the bottom of the headstock on our TS 82 when we took the discs out, it needed to be a few turns longer with no discs, the discs add more weight and require more momentum from the self loading mechanism to get the plough turning fast enough to latch back up when its turned

As long as the small wedge in the rotating collar is free, and engages well with the grooves machined in the main pivot, its just a case of staring with the rod at full lenght, and shortening it until it latches up smartly, but without too much violence

The longer rod coming out of the back of the headstock to the spinning collar should be on the land side of the plough, then when you lift the plough should turn slightly, putting all its weight on the latch. Release the latch and as the cranked cross shaft pivots back, it pulls on the turnbuckle and spins the plough

you then lower the plough and pull forwards, this pulls the cross shaft forwards, and the spinning collar goes round the pivot, the wedge then clips over the groove and the plough is ready to turn again once lifted

get some pics if you can, it may be easier to spot the problem
