Tuesday Weather Plus Outlook:

Tuesday:
A day of sunny intervals and showers, locally very heavy and thundery, especially in the north west of England, Pennines and eastern England. While more prolonged rain may develop across north east Scotland
Highs of 20C/68F, with overnight lows of 8C/46F in generally light winds
.

Brief look to the rest of the week:

It stays showery overnight and more rain or showers seem likely for most of this week.

And just a bit further:

Make the most of the rain as the metjeffuk further outlook (which goes with our long range) suggests we are heading for a prolonged dry warm /hot spell from next weekend this then taking us to the end of this month at least!

One exception could be the north of Scotland and Northern Ireland here more likely to see rain brushing past from time to time otherwise it's dry, sunny and warm.

It’s a long way off at the moment and we will have more on the outlook and detail later.

As always our free service at metjeffuk will keep you updated.

Hope the sun shines for you but….

Whatever the weather enjoy it!

@METJEFFUK , why does all this rain seem to be missing west cornwall? As I said earlier, we have had just 3 mm in last 3 weeks. Even this morning I can see a very dark cloud when I look east. Most summers, we get a spell where we miss all the rain, why?

Hello the answer to your question is actually a simple one, normally we get our rain on a SW wind with tropical air which normally gives West Cornwall rain, drizzle and hill fog while further east on this air flow you could expect showers and sunnier skies, recently we have had high pressure close too and extending from the Azores and low pressure over the north sea the circulation around the low has brought northerly unstable air, with the sun at this time of year very powerful it allows the land to heat up and we get convection and heavy thundery showers, The difference with west Cornwall is having a cold sea and being further away from the low, So up to now we have missed them, but today and tomorrow the low is expected to move S SE thus bringing even west Cornwall in line & the chance of a heavy showers.

Hope this helps

for the month with the longest day i don't think its been this dull for years in June. trust me to put up solar pannels for this year :facepalm:
We've had plenty of sun and my new panels are ahead of what they predicted but boy we've also had plenty of rain, can't remember when Its been so wet at this time of year river meadows have water standing when we should be cutting them for hay but on the plus side cows have grass up to their knees.

For the last 6 days we have been under 25% of a sunny day output I generated more in a March week
