20200427_175418.jpg Easy enough you would think to fit a new drum drive belt........ Not so with this machine, looks like a total strip down due to the double ended belt pulley set up. Dozens of tiny torques screws, sharp edges, pull off plastic that snaps off. No wonder folks junk them at first sign of trouble, even for a £10 belt.....

Used to be a simple job of removing the back cover and sliding a new belt on.
The last one I took apart to fit a new wheel that the drum runs on. Centre had come of the wheel. Replaced the one wheel, but if I had to replace 4, wouldn’t have been economic. Think the wheel was £30. The centre bearing for the wheels was just a piece of plate punched out and formed into a semicircle. Was very cheaply made. Definitely not made to be repaired, or designed to last. However, parts were available.
i forgot the make, probably one of the indesit brands.

I got fed up waiting for my new washer (£350-ish) to arrive so bought one 2nd hand from someone moving overseas to tide me over. Washers are heavy, so many just sell them and buy another. A year on and my £50 s/h washer is still working. I'll never buy another new one!
