The levels of air quality in these parts of the world are driven entirely by their lack of emissions technology and the prevalence of old school two-stroke engines on virtually everything. Nothing to do with the cows. They also tend to do a lot of land clearance operations by burning slash and timber waste whilst they do it. It's happening all over Asia.

It will be interesting to see the CO2 data when it comes in for this period. Its a wonderful little experiment that we are conducting, that would never have done voluntarily - reduce fossil fuel consumption massively for several months, maybe as long as 6, and see if there is any discernible corresponding reduction in the CO2 measured in the air. If not, then perhaps the rise in CO2 is not man made, or at least the man made element is completely swamped by natural sources........
