Chap has an old girl down the road and wants to put a hedge cutter on her for a while, do they have a pto speed selector? Seems to have a circlip holding the stub in so I assumed it could be knocked into 1000 to save some diesel but he says not.

Appreciate any info (y)

Will likely be 2 different stub shafts for the 2 different speeds. Would it be possible to ger a 6 spline end welded onto the 1000 speed shaft? only for low power applications like a hedger.

Edit: be a lot easier to get a 21 spline yoke for the hedger shaft.

I think @Thomas5060 is right that they are 1000 rpm from the factory.
But it is possible to change the gearset to make it 540. But that dosen't help the op
My Tw15 has a dual speed pto, just swap the 6 spline 540 shaft for a 21 spline 1000shaft. Although it is possible to get a 6 spline 1000 rpm shaft.

I tried a 6 spine 1000 rom shaft in the 7610 with the hedger and found the engine rpm was to low at 540. I used a tachometer to find where to set rpm and think it only about 1250 engine rpm. For heavy cutting it pulled the engine down to much. May be with a 6 cylinder it would not lug down as much.

A mate of mine ran his hedger the same way on an IH and glazed the bores because it wasn't working hot enough

Its only the TW35 & 30 you cant change.
You can swap the stub shaft on a TW25 and all the others, and most fords. The 2 PTO drive gears are sitting there in the back end,one behind the other.
The different splines on each shaft, engage with a different gear, changing the speed
