Twisted wire

Hope the Contractor doesn’t mind too much that I have borrowed this. Not just a great picture, I’m puzzled as to how this knotting is done. why doesn’t it come undone?
Is it twisted before looped round the post in the foreground, then knocked in further to tension up.
Any help much appreciated.

I'[m not quite sure what you mean really but the twisted stay double wire between the posts is a torniquet
It is 'twisted' or what we call torniquet 'd after being put over the posts, that tightens it very tight (y)

If that’s what it is called, my question is, How do you do it? 🤔
put the wire or doube wire around the posts where you want it and then get a metal bar with smooth and parallel surface and put it through the wire s in the middle then turn it over and over as you do that it will twist the wires together tightly , at the end it will try to twist back on you ,but the carefully slide it out of the little hole thats left.
take care not to twist too many times too far or the wire will snap.
It shopws you in this video at about 8.45 minutes in

So it will stay twisted? I would never have thought of that. Yet it does sound plausible now you mention it.
The picture does look more complicated, perhaps I should try to copy it.

Trust me its palausable , ive used it many times over the years ,yes it does stay twisted because you are forcing the wire to bend and form , be aware that it is easy to do too many twists and for it to either break the wires or damage them too much and for it to be very difficult to get the bar out.

you have too take care in doing it because big force can be generated by the leverage.

High tensile or mild?

I have used mild barbed wire many times for this job, using the same technique you describe. I use barbed wire, as I have a roll right by me when I am fencing ;)
