Not quite the same, but I have Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed about two and a half years ago, aged 40. My appetite is horrendous, I can't take any of the medications due to bad reactions so try to muddle through with over the counter stuff. I was doing great until two weeks and then started to flare, just awful especially as we are lambing. One thing about eating I would say is to eat what you want when you want. I had to drink Ensure ( meal replacement) for months as I could not eat. You can buy protein shakes, even slim fast helps, now if I think I could manage a sweet thing for dinner that is what I have, I also look for the most calorific but small package foods I can find.I take a multi vit daily too. Try to pick at foods and do not put yourself under pressure to eat a full meal, it helps me anyway. Buscopan IBS can help if not too flared up. It's horrible when your own body is targeting itself. I fully sympathise and empathise with you. It also help me to think that I am not the only person going through it and try to think of the so many worse things it could be. Before going to the docs I was convinced I had cancer and put off going until I had lost so much weight and was permanently afraid I was going to die. I remember the New Years eve before going, looking at my family and wondering if I would see the next one. It really is sh!t (pun intended) but it could be worse, although sometimes it's easy to forget that.

I've just had test and been told result is high, go to see doc this week.
What is the normal reading?

Off the top of my head 50 - 100, been a while since diagnosis. If high then chances are it is IBD rather than IBS ( sorry ) . They will follow up with other tests, has this been an ongoing issue or something new? I had problems for years but was too embarrassed initially and then too afraid until it got so bad I actually thought I might die and had no other option. It is not easy for many people to get a diagnosis. I was lucky, my Gp was amazing and really pushed to get me fast tracked. Bleeding is also a give away, the number of times you have to... in a day, having to get up through the night to.... are generally all signs that you have IBD as opposed to IBS.
