Umbilical pumps and equipment

Considering getting kitted out. Would a sludgigater pump on a tanker pump slurry. If so , how far, how big are people's pipes? Heard of a man who does use his tanker for this purpose. Any ideas advice welcome! My home farm is about 100 acres by the way so not too far to pump distance wise. Double spread plates or single? Slurry not like water either but could pump some in to make it more ' pump able'

Riggy the sludigator pump will work up to about 600m but the slurry will need to be very thin and only running the pump for a short time to empty the tanker. We have one on a 2500 gallon Nc tanker which works fine but I know people with with 3500+ gallon tankers that had to change to doda pumps as the sludigators were burning gearboxes out running for long periods.

I've a gate valve through the side of an above ground store so the tanker would keep itself full quite easily. Just thinking I could use sludgigater pump on fields away from home .

In theory that will work but in practice you will cook your sludigators gear box in a short space of time as they are rated for about 80hp. By the time you buy 1000m of hose @ £9.75, buy a pump @ £4k and a front and back reeler not to mention the 300+ litres of diesel you'll burn a day, you probably be safer getting a contractor!

Fully understand what your saying but we only want to do a small amount at this time of year cos of sheep everywhere! And contractors are too busy to do an odd field here and there. We already have a 2050 major tanker on 30.5 tyres, it's ok.for the land a couple of miles away where it's a bit drier but we're getting far too much compaction on the home farm where it's quite a bit softer ground. I've had a look on magic maps today and would need to pump to 750 metres to furthest part of farm. Thanks for your comments

If you were doing say an 8 acre field, you would be fine,we have pumped 1000metres downhill with the Garda pump but as we suck 25' out of a lagoon had problems with air getting in the tanker and losing its prime.

new on here but on sludigator topic i am pumping 1100 mts with sludigator no bother with around 30-40 mts head with twin spread plate up till 8oo mts then single plate after that ,just keep tanker filled through top fill off slurry pump .i am actually looking a new housing for sludigator at minute and hadnt to do any repairs to gearbox yet .

That company is not the one to talk to about slurry unless you want to waste a lot of money, Have a S/H system for sale if you are intrested

What's been the problem?

SK seem to turn out some decent stuff,I've never dealt with them though.

Have had two twin splash plates in the last year, first one fell apart, have never used the second one, have a all most new 600 meter front reeler & it will not hold 600 meters of 4" pipe, both for sale, Would Never deal with them again, Tramspread or Spread wise are the boys in the Uk or if you want more out put or better pipes you need to go to the States for that.
