Unloading auger gummed up

Having trouble with unloading auger taking far to much driving, fine when empty. It's all gummed up inside any tips for cleaning it out. Don't like the idea of stripping it all down!

Had the same problem after combining peas on a JD 2066 shear bolts broke and wouldn't last more then 5 seconds , the only answer was to strip it down !!! The soil on the inside of the auger was like rock it took some chipping off sadly.

Had this 7 or 8 years ago, we found the best way was to soak the auger tube overnight in water if possible, then it just pressure washed off the following morning

It's rough but I have seen pea gravel put through one as long as whatever is in there is fairly soft it removes most of it.

We used to have a similar problem with the grain and tailings elevators on old combine - we would leave a hosepipe running overnight (just a trickle) - this would soften it enough to clean the next morning

Hot water pressure washer will work. We had the bubble up auger do this in peas. We had to remove it though.

Thanks for the replies. We soaked it last night with a 32mm pipe and running it and left it with tfr soaking then this morning got the pressure to clean where I could get to. Then put the drain jetting nozzle on which did a great job of the middle section. Followed by some wood chip to dry and scrape out the anything remaining. wasn't brave enough for the gravel! Wood chip was fine.

Hose pipe in tank and fill with water, leave to soak overnight and auger out! Had to do this in the past after dirty peas
