Hi I've just purchased a second hand 1800 screen an itc receiver on sf1. The seller says it needs a software update. If so how much is this. Also how much for an auto trac activation for my 190R many thanks in advance.

@CPP can advise on the activation cost, though I'm not aware that the tractor needs one if it is Autotrac ready.

How long since the last update? It is wise to do them in sequence. If you Google Stellar Support there is a free update download programme. I don't know what memory card the 1800 takes but you might need a USB card reader if your PC doesn't have one already fitted. You can buy new compact flash cards at places like PC World, Maplin or your local JD dealer. Buy a decent branded one with as low a capacity as possible. 1 GB is plenty big enough. Bigger ones aren't as efficient - imagine that it is easier to find information in a regualr room size rather than search around in a massive stadium if that makes sense.

It's auto trac compatible but needs unlocking. Thanks for the info I will have a look once it arrives through the post. I'm thinking I should trade inn the ITC receiver an go to the 3000 model.

I agree. The SF3000 receiver is much much better than the iTC. There are less GPS satellites now so accuracy is limited plus the iTC has a narrower view of the sky. The SF3000 will use Glonass too - mine rarely have less than 15 sats in view at any one time.

Have a look at eBay or the big JD dealers' websites to get an idea of values.

I 'believe' a used SF3000 on sf1 is approx £1500. A new SF6000 on sf1 which is supposed to be better are approx £1900. If correct better purchasing the SF6000.

Just purchased a 6000, retail of £27?? I think. They say 15cm accuracy vs 23cm on a 3000 @SF1. I could be wrong but I thought that was good value to buy that extra as far as things go. Just hope I was right!
