I am looking for a new opportunity, potentially full time or preferably on a 3 to 4 day per week average, somewhere in the Worcestershire or Shropshire area (I'm based in Stourport, but could potentially relocate within commuting distance of Telford subject to the wife!)
Aside from my experience and qualifications outlined below, I feel it's important to give you an idea of the type of employee I am. In 10+ years of full time work I can count on one hand the number of times I've been late. I have had two days sickness, one for horrific food poisoning and one because I was hit by a car on my way to work! I make efforts to get along with people and not cause friction, and I like to approach work with a cheerful outlook. I cannot abide lazy colleagues or people who moan!
Currently I'm self-employed and splitting my time between chainsaw/tree work and doing casual work on a local farm. My last employer had a small pedigree suckler herd which has now been dispersed to focus solely on buying in calves to rear and sell as stores. I was in the job around 10 months doing all manner of general farm work, maintenance, and supporting the owners other projects and enterprises. Prior to this I worked on a dairy farm for 3 months with some milking but mostly yard work, etc. As you'd expect I can confidently drive various tractors, telehandlers (large and small) and use various equipment. What I don't know I can easily be taught!
I'm an experienced chainsaw user and have the relevant paperwork for felling and crosscutting.
I'm interested in shooting and have some gamekeeping experience also.
I'd really like to work with a suckler system and I'd also be keen to LEARN and get involved with how a farm is run rather than just doing as I'm told. I'd also be keen to learn about sheep as an addition or alternative.
In short, I'd like to work for/with somebody who is willing to invest a bit of their time and energy into developing my skills and knowledge so that I can ultimately be of more use to you!
Apologies for the lengthy ad, hopefully it will give any readers a decent idea of whether I'm the type of person you'd like to employ.
