Valve guides

In course of renovating the head of a 4.326 engine and the kit has come with valve guides. I really can't see how to remove the old guides. I have tried the brute force method but I can make no headway at all. Is there a trick? Do they all come out and do they need to come out?

You will need to press them out although then can be knocked out with a big hammer! If you have a new one to hand you could make a steeped pin to fit inside to press or bash the old ones out! Have seen them shatter aswell so wear goggles!

Thank you for that. I assume that I push them out from the underside. I will try with a bigger hammer!

I think I’ve only done three cylinder ones therefore had two less to fight with!! Have a look at new one, is there not a step in them? Tappered end down?

Prob freeze new ones b4 u fit .
Possibly make no difference but may help
Going to be a 'interference fit '

I don't know if anything is wrong with the old ones. I was just trying to use what's in the kit.

If there ok, I would leave old ones in
