Vardestad Rolex fold out

Evening today I got home a second hand vardestad Rolex with paddle boards i went to the field to give it ago I lowered the middle gang to the ground and drive forward slowly which pulled up the wheels then the latch let go but I though it was quite violent and the wheels left a couple divets in the ground what did I do wrong

Drive into field. Lower middle gang on float - latch should spring up at this point. Reverse up so wings open out whilst still on wheels. Pressure wings down/ raise wheels. Keep in float when rolling.
