Veganism & Coronavirus (and others too)

There is an awful lot of 'fake news' around at the moment, some hailing from Russia, some Iran and - rather predictably - some from China, and elsewhere too of course. So take the following with that in mind, pending confirmation from more reliable independently verifiable sources and credible health departments and / or organisations...

I heard a news interview, I think it was on RT*, about the current Coronavirus situation with a gov't medical officer from somewhere in Europe, I think Eastern Europe by his accent, but I may be mistaken in that. He was asked some fairly predictable questions and gave some fairly predictable answers, and was then asked for his general thoughts on the matter, and then it became interesting...

He stated that more governments needed to take the problem more seriously, that people should accept personal responsibility by washing hands more often and, brace yourselves, they shouldn't give into silly fads (my paraphrasing) such as veganism which weaken immune systems and make a virus's job that much easier.

So there we have it, veganism allows for the greater spreading of illnesses by weakening our immune systems.

But, of course, this could be no more than yet another 'fake news' story designed to undermine confidence in the media and, simultaneously, take a swipe at the vegan movement for whatever reason. It would be a bit of an irony for the vegans to be hit by a 'fake news' story after all the stuff they've been peddling. But, then, it might be true, who knows?

Yes, really; to me it seems far more plausible that the weedy, malnourished types making themselves less able to cope with infections are far more likely to be contributing to a pandemic than Jo Bloggs eating an evolutionarily established diet. We humans to be omnivores, it doesn't do to muck around with nature too much. (y)

Let them make anagrams of Covid-19.

There are any amount of coronaviruses including the common cold - which, like the rest of them, doesn't care what sort of diet its victim/host eats.

Its been known for a long time that viruses mutate and can pass from species to species, and close contact with live animals is more likely to enable that. Most people buy there meat already butchered and now packed
