Very quiet on the TB cull front

Is it just me or have things gone very quiet with regards to the planned TB culls?

Where are we with it now? Has any progress been made?

Is it still going to go ahead at some point?

I think it may well go the way of how Europe deals with it, wildlife will be culled, BUT it wouldnt surprise me if we dont see calls for whole herd culls.

Can they really afford that?? The costs would just go mental!! Dairy cows are short down here already.
It is what they do in France, cant see the antis coming out to support the cow can you, not cuddly enough. And a sure way of getting rid of the whinging farmer(not my thought)
France being officially TB free, they cull hard, disinfect, and pay compensation.

Just how much is being wasted here year on year, piddling about like they are getting nowhere fast.
Trade in cattle coming in to clear areas only, heavy trade from a TB free country?

If they tried that here, then the whole of the south west would be cattle free and the government really would go bust. This really is a ridiculous policy that is totally unworkable here.

The only way a whole herd cull would be viable in this country is when there is very little of the disease about and there is a couple of troublesome hotspots left and action which works has been taken against the wildlife reservoir. Not when it is expanding like this and nothing is being done about wildlife carriers of the disease.
