Vicon 1601 net problems

Would anybody be able to help, started baling yesterday but my net kept tearing before the end of the cycle, there was only a small amount left on a roll so I put a new one in, it was working better in that each time it would get to 1.1 turns and then the net would break, it would tie again if I restarted the box but would get no further, but spools the net on fine when using it manually, which is how I have been carrying on. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my kuhn 2601 but I'm not sure if the same net set up. All it was with that was the duck bill type thing that feeds the net into the chamber wasn't stopping on its way back up as it should just before the end of its travel so the knife was coming forward straight away instead of waiting for the right number of turns. All I had to do was move the sensor a wee bit closer as it mustn't have been close enough to pick up the arm but as I say I'm not sure if it's the same set up. Cheers

I've got a 1901 so must be the same ish, have you got different net? Quality makes a massive difference I had some cheap stuff 2 years ago and it was a bloody nightmare. I had to weaken the spring right off on the net brake, to the right of the spool, try that. There are also different settings were the spring attaches to the lever, you could fiddle with them. If the brake is too loose the bales are a bit saggy tho. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the replies, same net as last year as had couple of rolls left over only got the baler late last year tho replacing an older vicon so only had a couple of rolls through it on straw, don't see why hay would be different?

Shouldn't be different I guess, the brake gets activated at around 0.9 rotations, hence why it snaps at 1 ish, if it was me I'd shaken the brake off a bit first

Fiddled with the brake and moved the spring to a different place still wouldn't play ball for more than a handful of bales in auto, so ran it in manual all afternoon, never missed a beat, but used loads of net. :scratchhead:

Weird then, when the restart button is pressed in manual mode it should do the same cycle as auto, I would buy a new roll of decent net, and check the wires around the sensor on the roller which sits tight to the spool, maybe it's not picking up readings correctly

Everything nice and shiny, no rust from lying in the shed from last year? Wont take much to tear the net, as you know.

We often had trouble with our Vicon towards the end of the roll. I always managed to use the whole roll by dropping the revs when wrapping. My tractor driver was always too impatient and would come home with quarter rolls left which I had to use up next time.
I think its something to do with the geometry when the roll drops lower into the box, but now I'm wondering whether I'm thinking of a F***** Class baler we had after??
Dropping the revs and slowing down always works for everything, well it did for my small square this week!

It used to rip it on mine at end of roll, in the book it said to adjust spring position on brake arm, so as to keep same brake pressure through roll, seemed to work!

Regapped the sensors, tried some different net, still no different. Starting to think it's a faulty sensor, used a whole roll today in manual mode no problems, but wouldn't tie more than 3 bales in auto mode, tried all the adjustments the book recommends. :scratchhead:

Doh sounds like some electrical gremlin, can't help much more I'm afraid, defo got the net button pressed not the twine one? Clutching at straws I know! In book says about a factory reset of box, might be worth trying when you haven't a load to do with it
