No No! Have the Petrol 6 cyl engine and convert to LPG. It could go into London then :). My Uncle had a Petrol FG on a green grocery round. I was driving towards the end of its days and one day Uncle got me to drive. So off we went I quietly confident, 1st to second gear CRUNCH. Stop slightly embarrassed. Set off again change-CRUNCH. Stop again look at dear old Uncle who is grinning away. ''You will have to learn to drive properly boy''! The Ford D series I had driven was a doddle by comparison.
I used a fg for years as my ploughing transport, original engine was a 3.4, frost got that, so a 5.1 was fitted, with all the cab mods, would go anywhere in top gear then. And yes, double de clutch up and down! When mastered, the box was fine.

Have been looking for a half decent Bedford RL to buy for years. Preferably on dual wheels at the rear.
Just wondered if anyone on here knows of one or a yard where one might be?

Would also settle for an old GMC or Canadian ford of similar era.
Witham special vehicles www.mod-sales.com or something like that, but a green goddess and bung on a flat bed trailer, sell the fire-fighting pack to a farm that knows waiting for the fire brigade is not a realistic option!

I went to a Morgan owners club sprint in the 60s, at Church Lawford, and it was covered in new Morris Minor vans, rows of them, as far as you could see.

I have recently thought I would like an old lorry. No idea why, never had an interest in one until I saw an old bmc on eBay. It was one of these. Thought it would look awesome with a custom drop chassis on air bags. Like the look of an old j type as well. View attachment 629160
I used to drive one of these as a kid on the spud fields when i was about 14 .We had the scales on it for weighing the spud bags and stacked the bags on the truck as we went in good conditions obviously .Poor thing got cut up and made into a bale trailer .It was a ex Roberts bread van i recall and they were quiet common about these parts :)

I have an old RL 4x4 6 cylinder petrol tipper but mine is not really half decent unfortunately. It was owned by Pirelli and used as a support vehicle for electrifying the Highlands in the fifties and sixties. It has only 65k on the clock and we used it for grain carting years ago. Not moved in twenty years nor had it improved in condition. It used to backfire like mad on the overrun and really sh!t anyone up who wasn't expecting it. We parked it up when the brakes went and upgraded to a D type which was one that ford told us didn't exist. When getting brake parts for the rear brakes I gave them the axle number and it came up as a Trader and never fitted to the D!

Worth a bit of money, keep it dry for the retirement fund ............. (y)
Unfortunately twenty years too late. A wing fell off last year and I only realised when the topper hit it:eek:. I have been wanting to re-home it for years but my wife, for some reason, says I must get rid of the 'other crap' before I get rid of this. She used to drive it so has sentimental value:oops: it was kept going for a long time virtue of the fact I knew someone of rank in the TA which had a few and parts were borrowed ( :)::ROFLMAO:) from them.
