Volunteer linseed

I’ve got a block of land that was spring linseed last harvest, I cut it using a stripper header and then short disced the stubble.
It’s now greened over and looks a half descent crop. Has anybody ever left it and farmed it through?
Surely if we dont get a sharp frost it should survive?
Or am I being a little optimistic ?
(Only helpful answers please! )

I have the exact same scenario. Volunteer linseed looks healthy and even. Smothered black grass as well. Was thinking going to leave as long as possible (early April) then apply small amount of N and hopefully combine something in July. Late frosts could be the problem.

Having seen a similar thing in following wheat crops we have drilled 2 fields of spring linseed this autumn to see what happens. Half the seed rate and the easiest establishment I can remember for years and years!
Looks almost too good at the minute drilled @ 30kg/Ha, I should probably have dropped the seed rate further as it’s going to need holding back if it’s not going to be flat on the floor by June. I would be very worried about lodging if it’s so thick it’s suppressed BG!
