Hi,im looking to return to dairy farming after a 15 year period out building up my own haulage bussiness.Really miss the cows but dont know what the labour market,s like.Previosly to leaving i lived and worked on dairy farms since a kid [my dad was a cowman].My last position was cowman with the usual day to day control, milkings, calvings,ai,feet, vet visits etc...and am looking for the same.Dont want a huge herd, dont want zero grazing.Have worked on units where milk from grass and well made forage was the order of the day and i enjoyed that.
Idont know if i,ve been out too long to get a herdsman,s job.Dont want to start back as a gfw.
Any thoughts?
p.s. we live in wiltshire and want to stay down south.[family]
regards steve.

Put a detailed ad including your requirements and experience in the back of the farmers weekly and farmers guardian and I bet your phone won't be on the hook for more than 2 minutes at a time.

I can think of a number (including myself) who are looking for assistant dairy staff.

You might be optimistic thinking you will drop straight in as top man after a 15 year gap. Plenty of demand for skilled (and less skilled but enthusiastic) staff.

I'm in Wiltshire, drop me a pm if you like.
