We've got a few, i blame thistles and wheat straw bedding. Any way our normal way to tackle them is to roughly rip them off to try to stimulate an immune response. Works well sometimes, its a case of nothing to lose, one animal only shrugged them off at 3rd lactation.
They have a sharpness that can deliver virus into the skin. Almost all cows will get the virus, the problem is location and dosage dependant. What is your theory on the wheat straw and thistles?
I've had a few like that(probably get shouted down for this) but I keep them well smeared in tractor grease for 2 or 3 weeks, they seem to need air to survive and if you with hold that, they just shrivel up and die, after about 3 weeks they'll just rub off as the root seems to have died.Has anyone come across this before? We have a couple of heifers that have this all along there belly and on their teats. I have flied sprayed them, to reduce the change of spreading. Vets took a sample but to no prevail. Cheers in advance.
If it works and doesn't cause the hiefer too much pain it seems like a good idea to meI've had a few like that(probably get shouted down for this) but I keep them well smeared in tractor grease for 2 or 3 weeks, they seem to need air to survive and if you with hold that, they just shrivel up and die, after about 3 weeks they'll just rub off as the root seems to have died.
