water diversion

Need to diverter some water of my hardcore lane adjoining the road.
Alot of water can run down the road and diverts down my lane to house.
I have been digging a channel with spade to divert the water but it occasionally fills with chippings of the road.
Thinking of digging a h gurder in but fancy something cheaper

Did think about sleeping policemen made if concrete against the road to turn the water just worried how long it would last with the wife driving in and out and me.
What thickness etc.
Can't be too high for car

Just dig a shallow scrape across the drive to send the water off it.
If it gets washed out and too deep then dig a trench out, make a concrete channel, it only need be shallow to catch the water, better than a ruddy sleeping policeman to bump over.

Boggy.
Don't think you'll do it cheaper than a girder by the time you've messed on with concrete, or kerbs. Also, a girder wont put a bump in the road to drive over.(y):)

I have the same problem .
I have seen the H girder or channel section work , but it really has to be galvanized which put it onto the too expensive list . #
The crash barrier was also talked about as well as railway track .
The sleeping policeman is well worth a shot , I make the same sort of thing on the road with planings .
I'm still at the wee groove / ditch thing , but it needs cleaned out often .
I've bought these on ebay at 3 quid each , I'm thinking they might be worth a try
The hole is 6 inches diameter .
