Water for lambs - IBC?

Moving around 100 lambs onto some turnips for the summer soon. Field doesn’t have mains water, so I think my best bet is an IBC I can collect and refill a trough from. Is it safe to use a IBC that’s previously had a disinfectant etc in it that has been properly cleaned out?!

Any other ideas for water welcome!

Thanks

you can buy IBC fittings that will go to hose lock and then run to an auto fill trough, this is what we do, fittings from:

The disinfectant might still taint the water, not sure, but we use ex manganese IBC's as they are plentiful over this way with the spud boys.

In an ideal world you use a black IBC as it stops the water going green (goes green very quickly at this time of year)

I fitted an IBC to an old Howard muck spreader chassis, makes an ideal bowser for watering the sheep.
I would say if the inside of the tank still smells of disinfectant then it would taint the water.

I use white ones with out too much trouble, had a couple ex orange juice which kept the water clean surprisingly well, I wonder if they put something in the plastic to help?

If you get the cap from the outlet, drill it and fit a tank connector (water fitting you would have in a roof tank) then you can plumb it into a trough quit easily, sheep are reputed to need 7 litres per day, and when its warm and the grass is a bit stemmy they will go through it.
