I opened a 200 ltr drum a week ago and took 30 ltr of water out, every day fresh water , then it was like water mixed with fine sludge, rang the supplier and said he would replace the water quantity,
A bit xissed of today with first barrel, so tried the second barrel, looked fine when it was stood up, but was the same as the first when i got to dispense some, I assume oil floats on water, so the water runs off from the bottom first,
Never had drums before , is this normal. ?

I have always believed that creosote was an emulsion, and the water, which I have also found, is just part of the deal that separates out over time. If it dries out completely, it's like tar, but not quite. Hopefully someone can shed a bit more light open this.
You may have a point, as if I paint it on, it dries black, Just concerned as never had a drum before
I was initialy told that there may be some condensation from the pits as they heat off the moisture, and the tap supplied is not very big, it wouldnt accomadate tar

I bought a 20L a bit back, that had watery snot in the bottom.
I'm suspicious that it's recycled from when Scanpost or somebody change the creosote in their dry Dock.

Yes, waters always at the bottom and at £200 ish a drum, I just wonder if things are a bit hit and miss, NOT in our favour, but someone elses ?
Seems 5 to 10% pure water, And then as you describe rightly the same again in watery snot

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
