we got two meters for the farm
since we installed the borehole 4 months ago one of them only now feeds two little used tanks
on inspection of afore mentioned meter yesterday it has a plastic thing with a wire attached to it clamped onto the meter with the wire going to a box
any clues

Most of these meters have had a facility to monitor the water use independently.
They probably think you are cheating somehow as your consumption has probably dropped like a stone

My meter has a wire going to the cover so they can run a wand over it to get the reading without having to climb the fence.

they know we are on bore hole as well as mains
