Yeah, got the same letter; they want you to do their reading for them. I don't believe they have made any attempt to read our "buried" meter.

Same here they also say they need access to the property to read the meter and I am obstructing them by having a entrance gate, the meter is at the side of the road on the council verge told them this four times and the letters keep coming not been read in six years and I am to blame idiots!

This is our experience of Water Plus.

For almost 4 years we have been pursued by Water Plus for a spurious balance of £936.00 transferred to them when our accounts were unilaterally ceded by Severn Trent. Since then Water Plus and their various debt collection agencies have added an array of other charges and late payment fees. Consequently the balance now stands at £2294.59.

Yet despite explaining the error to Water Plus and to their two previous debt collection agencies (both of whom agreed we are correct) on countless occasions, Water Plus continue to blindly pursue payment. Their latest debt collection agency – Pastdue Credit Solutions, based in Glasgow – is now phoning and texting 2 or even 3 times every day demanding payment of this balance. Needless to say we WON'T be paying; but will continue to routinely pay each month for the ever increasingly priced water consumed.

You've got to be proactive in going after them. I had similar problems with Castle water, submit an official complaint, further it at every opportunity up to the regulator. Post negative reviews on their chosen review platform (most companies have sneaky methods to inflate their ratings so you do sometimes get a response with a seething 1 star).
Castle were so bad the CLA had a special agent to deal with it and that was what eventually got me something like a satisfactory response.
I'd also consider invoicing them for costs with your time taken in dealing with it and damages from the stress of the incorrect invoicing and debt collection. Should get a response at least
