Wayleave power line agreement

Hi this may be in the wrong section please move if needed;

To summarise we have a solar park that a high voltage national grid power line runs over head, there is currently a existing wayleave agreement in place but they have contacted us to sign a new updated one, is this some thing I should be wary of ? It seems in the detail they want to replace it, but it does also mention if needed telecommunications and fibre optic cables routing, is this a sneaky way of running new cables without extra payments ?

And finally am I obliged to sign a new agreement when there is currently one still in place ?

What are people’s thoughts, TIA.

Thanks.

Get an Agent on the job. The other party should cover your costs.

Don't sign anything without professional advice.... ;)

Good afternoon,

My colleague noticed your post and has kindly forwarded it on to me. As per the previous response, I would advise against signing the agreement without professional advice. Electricity companies do approach landowners directly to ask them to sign agreements, which can sometimes result in the landowner foregoing compensation that they would otherwise have been entitled to claim. For example, if the electric lines are oversailing your solar array, then you may not have been able to install as many solar panels as you would have if they weren't there. Therefore, you may have a claim if you are receiving less in rent and tariffs etc. as a result. I would be pleased to discuss this further with you if you would like to give me a call on 07525 905826.

With kind regards,

Harrison Riddle (Berrys)
