We have spoken to the wool merchants and they have no idea where they have come from. The picture attached shows what we are getting, does anyone have any idea where it would come from?

Looks like wire from pallets or frames, or something like that. Somebody stapled chicken wire to a pallet, maybe?

Shouldn't be packed with wool, though. Shouldn't have that sort of sharp stuff around the shearing area :scratchhead:

Does the Wool Board use similar staples to fix labels etc to wool sheets or bales of wool?

Do you know your County or Regional Representative on the Wool Board?

If you burn a pile of pallets, you'll get left with an enormous quantity of nails. Some animals do like to sit or roll on burnt patches as they will be dry. I purchased a small fishing magnet to collect the nails from my burning patch but I'm sure not many will bother.

I think the wool board uses them to fix wool sheets into 5s for delivery

No, they use a lot bigger/thicker staples for that. Those in the picture are very light, as used for furniture upholstery, pallets, etc.

Wool board up here (Newtown depot) uses wooden pegs to hold bags in fives, and to close each bag. Back home (Bromyard depot) they were stapled in fives, with needle & thread to close bags up.
