Weather station

Hi,

Davis do have a very good name and they are considered to be very robust. Not sure about the app though.

A Davis weather station (although mroe expensive then some of the less reliable weather stations) should last you a good few years.

The app is called Weather Link Mobile. I think it's free in the iTunes store if you're on iOS.

@RTFM has one with the Weather Link. His station is a few miles north of me so when I want to see what the weather is like in the land of milk & honey I just fire up the app...

Or have a look on Wunderground to see who has one locally to you but some of the installations can be quite amateur and not reliable sources of data.

Does it measure rainfall at your premises?

I don't have one, but a mate in the village does have a Davis in his back garden. Unreliable for temperature & wind but not too bad for rainfall. I use a plastic rain gauge & sheet of paper to write the day's total on!

Is your mates Davis info unreliable because of where the weather station is situated,or because it is not working properly so needs recalibrating?

The site is quite sheltered, that's all. He has sprayed plenty of fly spray inside the see saw rain measuring part to stop spiders' webs altering the readings.

I’m looking at a new weather station at the moment and struggling to decide which to go for. Our Watson is just about to pack in.

Looking at the Davis Vue and Pro 2. Does anyone have the pros / cons of either? Or any alternate recommendations?
