Weaving GD user thread

I bet that was an interesting journey home, looks very top heavy....
I must come and say hello.
It was @TomD from Hamblys that remembered I was looking for one and took it in as a trade in.
I spoke with Simon Weaving to get his advice and he said to go for it.
I picked it up at Honiton in Devon. Took me 2 & 1/2 hours to drive there, but wanted to stick to Dual Carriageway/Motorway as much as possible on the way home so had to head to Exeter on A30, before doubling back up the M5.
It was quite easy because I just set the cruise control at 56mph so as not to need to overtake many lorries. It took just over 3 hours to get home.I made sure there was 95 psi in the trailer wheels and she travelled like a dream. The drill is 2.5 tonnes and isn’t as top heavy as it looks.
I have nearly finished changing all the scolloped discs for new ones, so she is still on the trailer at the moment. It’ll now look even smarter when you come and say hello to it!

The reason why I have gone for the GD over a tined drill is because my overriding concern is Blackgrass, requiring absolute minimum soil disturbance, for which the angled discs seem the most logical to me.
I’m hoping that the earlier drought, followed by the wets and drys of June and July, have got most of my soil structures in good enough order for the GD to work well.
However, there are a few heavily infested Blackgrass heavy land fields that I will still plough this year. They will be going into hybrid barley for 2021, which will suppress the Blackgrass well enough to GD it next year for Linseed.

Mines out again.
Beginning to think I ought to have got a bigger one.
Doing cover crops doubles the acreage to drill

Slightly off-topic, why are you not showing up as a BASE member Mr T? @Clive @Chris F

You can only show one "tag" for a user and their is a hierarchy in the background. Arable/Mixed/Livestock must trump BASE. This isn't a conscious thing, just something I haven;t tided up yet. The BASE labels on here have been very good at generating new members for BASE, so they are excellent promotion.
