What does gear box do?
As mentioned used plenty with old and newer pods on.
Some had granule applicators too.
Maybe to quicken, slow wheels up when same size pelleted seeds used instead of changing ally seed wheels.

That's the same drill as we use . All settings are relevant to what cell wheels it has.

The gearbox alters the seed spacing by increasing or decreasing the speed at which the cell wheels revolves relative to the ground speed. Drive goes from the wheels along one hexagonal shaft through the gear box and to the units via the other hex shaft. On ours C gear is 7 inch spacing and D gear is 5 1/2 in spacing.

@ORW 37 hope this helps, from dads notes looks like with ours(looks just same as yours) drilled slightly nearer than charts suggest but good guide for you to start from

@Still Farming gearbox gives 6 different spacings for each cell wheel, used to just alter gear to drill headlands/ first lift closer

Anybody want one got one for sale just the same with granular applicators as well

Would agree, try a length then when you check depth of seed bare out about a yard of seed, count gaps measure and divide to get average spacing and adjust gear if not right

Thanks for all the info.. far more confident about the job now I have a starting point!!
