Weekend Weather Forecast 13/10/17

Hello,

A decent weekend ahead, that is if you aren't in western Scotland and western Ireland. Some warm temperatures and dry weather to be found to the south and east, although the western coasts and hills always being prone to some low cloud.

I'm holding some one day Farming Weather Schools during the winter (running form 10am to 5pm). The aim of the course is to help you spot and maximise weather windows on your farm, make the most use of internet weather apps and to help you better make your own forecasts for your farm.There's more information here .

SATURDAY

A ridge of high pressure extends across southern parts of the UK and Ireland on Saturday with a moist southwest flow affecting many western and northern areas.
The warm front in Ireland and Scotland is bringing thicker cloud with it and some outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Most of the rain is going to e affecting western coasts and hills, some of this being heavy at times. Expect some low cloud across northwest England and western and northern Wales too, as well as drizzle, mist and some fog. Southern Ireland and the far southwest of England may also be troubled by the low cloud and drizzle together with seas mist and fog.
Elsewhere the cloud will be breaking and the sun should come through. It will be dry and feeling very warm in these places.
Winds SW 15-20kt (F5) but SW 20-28kt (F6-F7) in northern Scotland and perhaps the west of Ireland later.

SUNDAY

The ridge of high pressure is maintained on Sunday. Probably a drier flow to the southeast, but a more moist southwest flow to the west and north.
A warm front from western Ireland to western Scotland bringing cloud and periods of rain to these areas. eastern Scotland is likely to be drier. Breezy for eastern Ireland but dry whilst some low cloud and fog continues to affect southern Ireland coasts.
Western coasts of Wales and England could again suffer from low cloud, mist, fog and drizzle at times.
Away from these areas the day is going to be dry with broken cloud. Best of the sunshine in the east and feeling warm here.
Winds S 12-16kt (F4) in the east, S-SW 18-25kt (F5-F6) but 25-30kt (6-F7) in Ireland and western Scotland.
