Bought a 2nd hand Weidemann 5080t in January and thought the aircon wasn't very powerful then but the dealer said he checked it and it was fine . However now it's warming up outside it really can't cope even with the fan flat out meaning you have to have the door open which I hate . The aircon actually runs and does make a difference to the wi does steaming up on damp days and so was just wondering is this normal for the aircon on a weidemann i.e a bit lame or should you be able to keep doors shut in April and thus it needs further investigation ?

First thing, is the filter clean and the matrix not covered in dried mud? i.e. whats the volume of air flow like , and what there is, how cold is it? Is the compressor cycling or running continuously ??

New filter and Matrix looks clean , the air just isn't that cold , wondered if maybe the heater tap doesn't fully shut off or something . The matrix looks much smaller than on our tractor so maybe it's just not up to the job .just had a look and it cycles on and off every 20 seconds or so , is that how it should be ?

Try clamping the heater hoses and see if you can get outlet temp down to 5-7 c ,and after that, adjusting bulb / replacing thermostat so compressor stays running longer. Suspect you have a fixed temp thermostat, where some careful twaeking of the bulb position can get a lower cut out temp

The aircon on weidemann’s is shocking. We’ve had two and when it’s warm and you’re working it hard it really struggles. The cab filter is in a terrible place and blocks very easily. Try taking it out and the black mesh filter and clean the small air con radiator with a soft brush because everytime you wash handler water gets in and turns the dust to mud on it. On the new weidemanns they do an optional better ventilation system.

Mine is a 66 plate , would that be the newer or older aircon ? I have put a new filter on it and the matrix looked pretty clean to be honest . I just watched it running now and the compressor would run for 5 seconds and then stop for 20 seconds and repeat over and over .Is that normal or a sign of low gas/dodgy thermostat ?

Impossible to tell without a gauge set and thermometer.

Short cycling would suggest it's low on charge.
Get it diagnosed properly by someone who knows.
