I weighed my lambs today for Thirsk tomorrow they were very wet when I get my all singing and dancing weigher plus automatic tag reader as part of the grant how do you compensate for a wet day weighing followed by a dry day weighing do you accept poorer DLWG for the week?
How much rain water in a 40kg lamb between wet and dry day?

depends on wool length I would say close to 2-3 kg if getting rain on them. if rain had finshed and drained out a bit. maybe 2 kg as a very rough guide biggest weight loss would be in gut full over night
scales here tend to just lift the cut off weights
same with selling full wool lambs vs shoren lambs it's not perfect but I know what yer saying. wet lambs can throw out the killing sheets at market not so much of a problem tho

Very tight -coated lambs - 500 gms.

Loose coated lambs - 1000 gms.

But it's not as simple as that. Lambs weighed on a wet day might have a lower gut fill than lambs weighed on a dry day.

When the alarm goes off on market day and its raining I now go back to bed and wait for the next week. Market knock a couple of kilos off wet lambs then buyers bid 20p less . Not so bad this time of year all tailenders have been housed for the last month

Then enough people do this and those of us who were stupid enough to gather lambs in a howling storm have a flyer... 😉😉
