Welding a header reel shaft

Need to weld a broken combine header reel shaft where it’s broken before going into the bearing any tips on how to get it so it’s running square and true when welding

Is it the 'spud/stub' on the end? If it slips up inside the main tube and held in the center by two washer type pieces cut it out and get a new shaft turned for it and reweld.

It’s on the outside of the reel tube just before it goes into the bearing on the side sorry if I didn’t make it clear
