geez, that's a big lump of metal youre dragging through the soil

is the welded hook to keep the point attached to the shank, how are they meant to be ?
just looking at your pics ( as Im not familiar with these particular points or the machine ) anything similar to that, that Ive had experience with, would have a roll pin or something through it ( maybe just under the BTT logo ) to hold it on

Canadian Bourgault tines! They have a hole in the opposite side that an Allen key bolt goes through more to stop them falling off than holding them on. Have had issues with the point breaking around this hole and apparently this Hook is to stop them from moving and breaking. They are 5” seed and fertiliser at 30cm spacings on a horsch sw9!

ok
Bourgault have a fairly big presence over here, although ive never really had a good look at their points.
Flexicoil, Morris etc do similar points, although I always thought Flexicoil looked the most streamlined.
I am familiar with the concept of the paired rows with wider row spacings though, a good compromise between increased trashflow between tynes while still maintain closer plant row spacings, however, too much soil disturbance for my situation

slightly off topic, but how do you find the Horsch? They are starting to make a presence here in the last couple of years, but Ive never actually seen one or know of anyone who has one. Some of their machines look interesting for here though
