Well done Lidl

While sat watching the idiot lantern tonight a Lidl advert came on. Promoting not only meat but british meat as well.

Well done and keep it up. About time we got some decent publicity for the excellent produce British farmers supply.

I think the British agricultural industry could do a lot worse than retain James Martin the Yorkshire born chef , as ambassador and publicist for the whole industry . He makes no apologies for his lavish use of milk, cream, butter , poultry meat, beef , lamb , and of course fresh non-food miles fresh veg . I've watched him numerous times on telly cooking , "a little bit of butter " ladling it in ,, "a drop of double cream" pouring it in generously , a goodly sized piece of beef/lamb , and all the time extolling the quality of the produce . OK he also does that on the Continent , but that's what his programme masters require . would that there were more like him , with the same robust tastes , rather than the seemingly proliferating , band waggon jumpers on veganistas .

Lidl and Aldi both seem pretty good at this - even before they changed the look of the stores, there was always a lot of British produce. I always assumed that their business model wasn't set up for expensive imported veg, especially.

And decent quality too. Had 4 lamb chops tonight from Lidl, a little small, but very nice and tender (I cooked 'em!! ) and great price. British... not LRT fakes, as in produced somewhere, anywhere... and then lobbed in some plastic in the UK and given the magic Mark!

And Jamie Oliver can go swivel with his jumping on bandwagon vegan cooking show......knob,not even a knob of butter.

Nigel Slater is a favorite for me. watching him cook and then eat is just rude

I generally buy meat from my local country butcher, BUT, push came to shove, Lidl or Aldi would be my go to before I step anywhere near the supermarkets.
We regularity have steaks from Aldi’s. Always excellent. Had them from our local butcher yesterday, it was tasty but hellish tough!
