Well water pump

What is everyone using for pumping water out of a well? I'm currently using a 3 phase Ebara Idrogo m40/15 from Whisper Pumps (regular adverts in the farming press). The current one has only lasted 2 years and the one before was the same. These pumps are over £500. It usually ends it's life by intermittently tripping out at the RCD, which is probably water getting into the motor.

There must be something more reliable or considerably cheaper out there?

It's pumping about 20m uphill and is working off float switches.

I had a failure of mine it was due to the pump not sitting on the bottom of the bore and the flexing on start up eventually broke the cable just where it came out of the motor had been there about 22 years was a "Lowara"
About 42 Mtrs deep 3 phase cost around £400 (can I find invoice for exact no way)

Grundfos 3 phase here, 2 different sites, Dales Water keep a spare, Main one was lifted every 12 months and exchanged because the iron starts blocking the filter on the pump, taken away cleaned and new seals fitted all round.

In most cases the pump relies on being in water to keep it cool, In my time, 35 years, I only recall one burn out, a very dry summer, they had to drop the pump deeper in the well.
