Were there many of these B12-13 ploughs made in england

Hi all plowing finished for this year in Canada time to plan for next year. I have this B12 plow that i would like to try next year it has the ace bottoms on it. The big problem i have to solve is the skims and their placement on the coulter at the moment they are at the rear of coulter, in a fixed position and will not work for me there as i like to skim above the share as far forward as possible.
I watched a old black and white video of a B13 plough and it had a very nice set of skims on it . As it was a international advert i guess the plough was assembled from the factory with these skims attached. My question what are the chances of finding a pair in England like them , and does anyone know anything about them. Mr goggle comes up blank, and the only picture i can find is the one from on here which i will try to attach also anyone got any other websites that i should try, to get info on them. Sorry long post but these things are just annoying me until i get some info or get a pair in my hand

they are the later type skims, over the top of the front of the disc and backwards, you can slide the skims back and forth to were you want them,
I have some, but don't really want to part with them, they are very hard to find, as only on the last ploughs made

HI Yes i have been thinking of making them the arm and skim is not a problem its attaching the stem to a single arm coulter. IH used to make a fabricated single arm coulter but as yet i have not found one to copy glad you got on board with this as now i can get some pictures of parts as i go along the clamps were a bit of a weird set up and will be hard to copy Mike

The round bar is about 27 mm from memory, needs a round shallow key way cut, the skim brackets on disc are are the same for either type, needs bending to shape, think I have an old one in workshop, will try to get some pics of it and dimensions for you

Bar needs to be better than just mild steel

Just measured mine on my old plow they are 1 1/8 looking think that is 29 mm, what would be good for steel ? i used cold rolled for one on the david brown plow i had to replace. Only trouble is its no better than mild steel if you heat it to bend it i was thinking something towards a spring steel that i could aneal then heat and harden again but that might be to much

Hi just updating this with a few more questions. What is en8 steel cannot seem to get a cross reference to it and goggle is based in America so keeps going into US standards. Other is Pennine Ploughing can you get me some pictures please of the single arm coulter with measurements and shape of skim arm and size with a picture please

EN8 is an unalloyed medium carbon steel which is used in applications where better properties than mild steel are required but where the costs do not justify the purchase of a steel alloy. EN8 can be heat treated to provide a good surface hardness and moderate wear resistance by flame or induction hardening processes.

The above from t'iternet, US version is 1040

Hi Yes that is what i was looking for but i need the single arm colter to go with them .I have not had a lead to any and they did not ever send them to Canada, so i Found Last Friday a different set of single arm colters that were available over here that were IHC . Bought some steel and now i am looking on you tube into building a propane heated forge to heat and bend them but i would like to get some measurements from you so i can get them looking somewhat like the real thing . The arms i bought were never designed to have the skimmer arm go forward the attachment point is further back approx half way along the arm i will take some pictures and post

the British one were not fixed at the front, about half way as you say along the arm, Theas ones would fit straight on there, although it looks a big disc on yours, 15 inch was uk standard but 16 inch fit ok, and can still use this nee type of arm no bother

Hi you told me earlier you did not want to part with them so i did not push it. But i will keep it in mind in case i get into a problem making my own. the picture i posted is just a borrowed one i run 16" discs But going back to the picture the owner of the plow its a 20" disc does not change anything for his finish the hub is high enough not to drag and his front one is 16" looks odd but he manages to bring home some bacon most matches
Do you have any good pictures of the clamp and the drop arms i would like to buy!! or make the clamps they were a neat looking affair with one bolt doing all the clamping .Anyone got any comments on if they were any good or not thanks . mike
