Plant a mix of 6 seeds but with spring wheat in it.

AHL2 rules state you can use fertiliser to make it grow and herbicides to control weeds.

Direct drill in March. Apply 150kg N and a pre-em.

Run the combine through it in August just taking the heads off the wheat and anything else in it. Run that through the cleaners and you’ll have a pile of wheat to sell. All the smaller plants in the mix will still be dropping seeds for the birds.

What am I missing because the rule book is very vague. A couple of tonne an acre of wheat on top of those figures above would be a nice touch.

Just need to choose the seed mix wisely that’s all.

I think that’s a bit of push myself.

What about growing a crop of wheat/barley, being careful with your herbicides and try to broadcast an AHL2 mix into the standing crop in mid-late June?

It’s very moisture dependent, so a bit of a risk, but far more compliant if it works.
If you have a spring start date, spray off 1st March and follow with spring barley (and repeat) or NUM3 and back to wheat?

Have you found a pre em herbicide that will meet those requirements?

It just says use herbicides to control weeds so they don’t smoother the seed mix.

Yes, sorry my question was poorly worded. I intended to ask have you found a herbicide which will be safe on not only your crop but the six species of other plants that will form the AH2 bird seed. And second question are you aiming for Continuous Spring Wheat with AL2 undersown. With the AHL2 ending February 28th, back into Spring Wheat.

Sanity probably.
What do you think the chances are that the wheat grows taller than the other seeds, yields (without any inputs including N) and produces a decent sample
