What do you carry?

I never carry money. [Nothing to spend it on round here.] I never carry my mobile phone unless I'm going off-farm. [Sporadic mobile reception at best on the farm-yes , I live in the backwoods.]

Carry baler twine generally. Have a habit of picking up lost cow tags that I find in the fields. Put them in my pocket and hunt down the offender to give her a good talking to.Never works-they'll do it again just to spite you.

I was always told that farmers should carry a shilling, a knife, and a piece of string.

With inflation a shilling, (10p) won't do much good nowadays, better make that a fiver!

Thats exactly what my grandfather told me many years ago and this is the first time ive heard it since

I was always worried when doing outdoor lambing about being stopped in the early hours driving about many packets (snap bags) of off white powder in the motor, each just a weighed out packet of colostrum ready to be mixed, but still enough to warrant a trip with the non believer plod.
Had a look in car earlier, Stick, towel, note pad (no pen) strimmer wire, several empty Ribena bottles, several almost empty anti freeze bottles, water proof coat (that isn't) cd's no cd player, lots of 1&2ps for when I go over the full £ at petrol station, spare wheel, a jack that does not fit, nor does the wheel nut cracker, but do have a socket to fit. a Frisbee:confused: a manual for the radio, that I still cant work. A map, in many bits. Several lengths of bale twine, and several dog leads/lead ropes. Lose bits of ewe nuts, chicken corn, hay, straw. Oh and something unidentifiable.

Who needs pockets:D
