What is doing this in a ditch bank its in one area about 10 holes spread out about 4meters

I'd go with rats, too. You may not see their sign around the holes though, we had a lot of ratty in our winter feed and I haven't seen any poo yet

(was always under the impression rodents just pooed all the time, maybe they don't?)

They tend to provide a urine scent trail for the others to follow to the food. I was simply inquisitive to see if there was any evidence around the ditch to see if it was a feeding area vs bedding area.
In my soon to be small workshop - they crap in two places just under the doorway (the door doesn't fit basically and is on the list to replace to seure the workshop from rodents). Under our chicken coop - they dig holes and do leave some droppings too?

We have holes just like that in the ditch next to our farm it’s a pain as I can’t get on top of them they live there and feed in the yard I catch them in Feb traps every wet night but not on dry nights for some odd reason
